   Rosie Reed-Gold and Rosaleigh  Harvey-otway

As cross-disciplinary visual artists, Rosie Reed Gold and Rosaleigh Harvey-Otway intend to utilise Arch 8 as a space for research, production, and collaboration, culminating in a public exhibition of the two artist’s works.
We intend to utilise the opportunity and space provided by Arch 8 to bring together our respective art practices, intertwine our research methodologies and build upon the exciting conceptual dialogues that already exist between our work.

Rosie Reed Gold is a multimedia artist fascinated in the landscape of the psychological whose work inhabits the margins bridging the conscious and subconscious, where the waking mind may catch a fleeting glimpse of the shadow self to engage in a dialogue, frequently without words - the moment where integration is possible.

Dedicated to asking questions about the notion of ‘self’ and ‘other’, she explores the dynamic between Freud’s conception of the interplay between the id, ego, superego and Jung’s personal and collective unconscious; how living beings create their own mythologies, share time/space though physical mirroring, verbal and nonverbal  interactions.
Her work is often process based and seeks to investigate and describe the distance between thought and action, environment and behaviour, inquiry and understanding.   https://www.rosiereedgold.co.uk/

Rosaleigh Harvey-Otway’s work is concerned with corporeal experiences of space: she utilises her own body in semi-performative works to investigate questions of distance and closeness, subjectivity and objectivity, questioning and reinventing typical physical responses to the environments we inhabit and objects we interact with. Underpinned by research of psychogeography, spatial theory and philosophies of how we inhabit/experience spaces, her work often manifests as kinaesethic appropriative actions and their documentation through photography, film, writing and expanded drawing. Rosaleigh’s practice creates dialogues between both urban and natural space, asking how we might create methods of inhabiting and interacting with space that reject implicit or prescribed gendered norms of experience and seek interconnected interaction. Her work seeks to draw connections between our sensory experience of the surrounding world and the possibilities of inventing new playful methods of existing within space and the body.
