Drew Houston has been working across both Arch 8 and Arch 9 this Autumn. A local artist and maker, he has been inspiring the community and visitors with his beautiful wood and resin pieces.
Drew works from found, sourced and local materials, and works with a sensitive and intuitive response to the forms, shapes and structures inherent in these objects. He often uses resin to extend the surface texture and properties of the wood and natural materials he employs. Glossy, semi-transparent reds and oranges become part of the woods palette, creating a striking contrast. Resin as a material alone is used to create smaller pieces which explore shape and form further.
Drew will be back working in Arch 9 from Friday 12th November onwards. His smaller pieces, which range from sculptures to lighting, are available to purchase from our Arch 7 shop Thurs-Sat 10-4pm, Sunday 12-4pm. Head down to the harbour to check out these wonderful, tactile objects and experience the surroundings which inspire our artists.
